 RATANAKOSIN SCOUT ASSOCIATION Under the Patronage of His Eminence Michael Meechai Kitbunchu, The Cardinal of Thailand
Establishment of the association
Ratanakosin Scout Association has been established by the committee of the Catholic Education Council (Thailand). The Secretary of the council, Brother Martin Prateep Komolmard, had called a meeting of the administrators of the Catholic School and scouters or scout teachers to discuss establishment of a scout association. This association will be responsible for the promotion of any activities for Scout, Girl Scout, Red Cross Youth and Girl Guide. The idea has been inspired and motivated by Father Peter Fahy, the chaplain of the Asia-Pacific Region ICCS. And through the coordination of Mr. Chalie Chomjinda, Mr. Samai Chinnapa, Mr. Suwan Supcharoen and his team, and other key persons including Col. Polawut Wisetsaguan and Mr. Thira Romyakom.
The committee then seek an approval for its registration as Association from Professor Dr. Boonsom Martin, the Minister of Education, who was also the Chief- commissioner of the National Scout Organization of Thailand. The Association was formally registered as Association by-law on the 11th September 1988 by the Cultural Committee of Thailand and was also endorsed by the National Scout Organization of Thailand.
Status
The association is a Catholic Association for scouting affairs in Thailand.
It is member of:
1. Catholic Education Council (Thailand).
2. Observer-member of the National Scout Organization of Thailand.
3. International Catholic Conference of Scouting.
Objectives
To promote and develop youths according to the church by principles and methods of Scouting through the training and activities process. At the same time the Association will inspired the Gospel values to the youths by the youths. The process will be done through the support of the adults who will work along side the youth people. The followings are the aims.
1. Promote coordination and union of the youths as in the movement of the Scouting, Girl Scout, Red Cross Youth, and Girl Guide in accordance with the ideology of Love and devoting oneself in service and development to others.
2. Promote and evangelize the Gospel and its value amongst the youths by spending life side with them.
3. Nature and develop the coordination to become the strength and cooperation with any government offices, private sectors, and the Church.
4. Enhance relationship and support any exchange of cooperation amongst the Scout, Girl Scout, Red Cross Youth, and Girl Guide in Catholic School related to educational system, services, mutual assistance in the from of continuous development process by the conceptual framework of Thailand cultural and social dimension.
5. Support all members as the center of and coordination for all member troops and their benefits.
Member
Member of the Association consist of two types:
1. Organization : Scout and/or Girl Scout Troop, Red Cross Youth, and Girl Guide until in the Catholic Schools, and other scout or girl scout troops from various sector which apply as member.

Projects & Activities
Ratanakosin Scout Association has carried out the following projects according to the plans:
Youth Programme
1 Scout Jamboree to hold once for every two-year or occasionally. First Jamboree was held in 1986.
2 Youth Forum was held in 1977 and then combined with the Youth Leaders Training Projects which has been directed twice. Two members from Youth Club joined in 7th World Scout Youth Forum in 1999 in Balgowan, South Africa. Four members from Youth Club joined in 8th World Scout Youth Forum in 2002 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Two members from Youth Club joined in 9th World Scout Youth Forum in 2005 in Hammamet, Tunisia. Two members from Youth Club joined in 3rd APR Scout Youth Forum in 2001 in Bangalore, India. Three members from Youth Club joined in 4th APR Scout Youth Forum in 2004 in Brunei Darussaram. One member from Youth Club joined in 5th APR Scout Youth Forum in 2007 in Tokyo, Japan.
3 Established Scout and Girl Scout Youth Club as the youth centre to train young people as Rover Scout and let them prepare themselves to be good volunteers as service team for 20th World Scout Jamboree in 2003 in Thailand and to be a Rover Troop of the Association.
4 Support and promote the creative projects of any troops and among the troops-members.
5 Organize the Leader Course for the youth two courses a year in May and October since 1998.

1.3 Assistant Leader Trainers Course (A.L,T.C.)
1.4 Leader Trainers Course (L,T.C.)
Only L.T.C. conducted by National Training Commission.
2. Organize the seminar for Catholic Scout Leader in June every year.
3. Organize any special training course or projects i.e. Pioneering, Entertainment, Disciple, Camping, Hiking, and etc.
4. Seminar in World ICCS on 1-4 September 2005 in Tunis, Tunisia and 7th APR Meeting on 13-16 October 2007.
Youth Chaplaincy
1. Promote of Word Celebration and Moral values based on the Scout Troops, and the Mass Service.
2. Emphasize importance of Youth Chaplaincy and propose to his Eminance the Archbishop of Thailand to constitute Youth Chaplaincy for Scout Troops on permanent basis.
Next Event :
1. Holding the 8th Ratanakosin Scout Jamboree for all members of Catholic Scouts from any Catholic Schools and overseas during 5-9 December 2008 at Vajiravudh Nation Scout Camp, Chonburi with emphasis for the celebration of the 80th King of Thailand Anniversary, Word Year 2007-2010, and celebrate 20th Ratanakosin Scout Association based on the theme “………………..”. Participants will be over 8,000 of young people and adult members. Ratanakosin Scout Association invites the members from overseas to join.
2. Holdind the 15th Leader Course for the youths during 1-6 May 2008 at Prommitr Film Studio in Kanchanaburi. The course will prepare Scouts, Girl Scouts, Youths, Young People and Adults for 8th Ratanakosin Scout Jamboree as participants and service teams.
3. Prepare the Youths for 10th World Scout Youth Forum in 2008 in Korea.
